The year 2020 has marked a before-and-after moment in the recent history of our time. Some trends that had been slowly appearing in the workplace had to be put in place in the blink of an eye to solve the crisis caused by major lockdowns in most countries. But, as in any crisis, the right approach can turn it into a great opportunity. For companies offering nearshoring services, this new context provided the perfect scenario to deepen the changes that had already been transforming the way they worked. At the same time, the need for new talent and skilled workers highlighted the benefits of offshore staffing solutions, especially those that shared the same time zone and culture.

For North American companies, Latin America has continued to grow into one of the most interesting and profitable outsourcing locations. Every day more and more cities are reaching the rankings of the best places to hire IT professionals, becoming great innovation hubs, full of young and skilled talent.

In this context, there are some trends that you should definitely be paying attention to, since they are likely to deepen the transformations that we are already seeing:

  • Greater integration among teams

The “us and them” model has given in to a more integrated notion of staff, where those working in nearshoring companies join the in-house staff of the company hiring them, creating one great team, seamlessly integrated, distributed in many locations.

  • The remote work tools era

Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack, you name it. Remote work requires more than just Skype and email, and tech companies are mastering the art of remote communications. Profiting from all the new applications and their functionalities will not only be a benefit, but a complete necessity to stay relevant in the market.

  • The customer is the key

Our greatest focus must be customer experience (CX). Surveys have shown that people are ready to walk away from a brand after only one bad experience, so keeping the client at the center of all we do is crucial. All the teams working on software development, both in-house and offshore must keep this in mind if they want their projects to succeed.

*More and more technology

Even if we are already working in the tech area, it is vital that we stay in touch with the latest technologies. Think, for example, about cloud computing, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), just to name a few. New technologies are the present, not the future. And we must be ready to integrate them into our daily work.

At Virtualmind we believe that the best way to be the leaders in our field is to constantly evaluate how we work, finding ways to outdo ourselves every day. The future of nearshoring is in our hands, and we are ready to bring it right to your business!
